Saga Nishiki has three kinds of patterns,the plain weaved,called HIRAORI.the figured weave and the twilled weave,called AYAORI.At first,the patterns were geometrical and then later the figured weave was added.Flowers,birds and a senery are figured based on the plain weave (HIRAORI).The original twilled weave (AYAORI) is called the "Ajiro pattern".AYAORI is currently the main kind of weave used today.
